About the Role
Ringway Infrastructure Services is looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our London Projects Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a highways design professional who wants to remain hands-on with design whilst also supporting, mentoring and developing junior engineers and technicians. Working on behalf of Transport for London and London Borough clients, you'll play a key role in delivering a diverse range of highway improvement schemes across the capital.
The role is primarily design focused, requiring someone who is passionate about technical delivery rather than moving solely into management. You'll lead and support the design of highway and transport schemes from concept through to construction whilst ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with client expectations.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll be responsible for the design and delivery of a wide variety of highways projects across London, including carriageway and footway improvements, bus infrastructure schemes, cycle routes, junction improvements and public realm projects.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
