Senior Design Engineer (UK Based) - Automation - £60-70K basic
Are you an experienced Solutions Design Engineer with a passion for logistics, warehousing, automation and developing innovative customer solutions? We’re looking for a talented Solutions Design Engineer to join our team and play a key role in developing efficient, effective and commercially viable solutions for new and existing customers. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys combining engineering, operational thinking, commercial analysis and customer engagement to create solutions that deliver real value.
The Role
Working closely with Business Development Managers and key internal stakeholders, you’ll understand customer requirements and translate them into innovative warehousing and logistics solutions. You’ll be responsible for designing solutions that consider operational efficiency, automation, sustainability and commercial viability.

What you'll be doing
- Create and present efficient and innovative warehousing and logistics solutions
- Develop concepts incorporating automation, innovation and sustainability
- Analyse customer supply chain requirements and translate them into practical warehouse solutions
- Create accurate and comprehensive cost models and P&L analyses
- Work collaboratively with different departments to gather the information required to develop customer solutions
- Produce warehouse layout plans and 3D drawings
- Develop investment plans and productivity calculations
- Calculate direct and indirect labour requirements
- Assess implementation costs and other associated costs
- Support the implementation of new solutions, including acting as the solution gatekeeper
- Work closely with Business Development teams to develop sales strategies and present solutions to prospective customers
- Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders

About you
We’re looking for an analytical, commercially minded and customer-focused professional who can turn complex requirements into clear, innovative and commercially sound solutions. Ideally, you'll have experience in:
- Solutions Design within logistics, warehousing or supply chain
- Warehouse or distribution centre design
- Logistics and/or supply chain operations
- Automation and/or intralogistics
- Cost modelling and financial analysis
- Productivity and labour calculations
- Warehouse layout planning and 3D design
- Developing and presenting customer solutions
- Working with multiple stakeholders across a business
- Supporting the implementation of new solutions
You'll also have excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to understand customer needs and develop solutions that balance operational performance with commercial objectives.
