Senior Design Engineer (Earthing)
Scotland - Hybrid
Permanent - Full Time

Summary:
Freedom Professional Services are currently recruiting a Senior Design Engineer (Earthing) to join our team, you will be home based, however, you will be expected to attend nearby Freedom or NG Bailey office as per the company’s policy of hybrid working.
The Senior Design Engineer (Earthing) will be responsible for delivering design of EHV and HV electrical substation detailed Earthing design projects both in the UK and internationally, meeting safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
The role will require travel to other Freedom /NG Bailey offices and client site locations across the UK with overnight stays where necessary
Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
- Manage and lead with delivering technically demanding projects.
- Lead all types of earthing projects from inception to completion unaided, ensuring that the project is cost effective and delivered on time with the deadlines in the proposal.
- Have good commercial awareness with the ability to work closely with our clients to build a strong relationship, and regularly communication both written and verbally.
- Mentor and provide help / guidance to Design, Assistant and Graduate Engineer’s.
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of high voltage earthing design including very good knowledge of the CDEGS software package (MALZ, MALT and RESAP).
- You should also have the ability / understanding to be able to carry out a study within various sections of the CDEGS software package including (HI-FREQ, FCDIST, TRALIN etc.).
- Understand how to carry out of the unordinary complex studies such as impressed voltage assessments, lightning protection risk assessments and awareness of lightning protection design is also desirable.
- Attend and chair design team meetings with the team/client via teams or in person.
- Provide engineering solutions to site-based problems through TQ/RFI process.
- Have the ability to review/authorise earthing reports and drawings to a high standard, providing constructive technical feedback to all engineering levels.
- Ability to confidently conduct, supervise and demonstrate site visits to carry out earthing assessments, design commissioning, and investigations after failures.

Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with good industrial experience at Earthing Design Engineer level
- Knowledge of 3D CAD
- CSCS Card holder – Desirable
- Full UK Driving license
