Senior Design Engineer

Up to £65,000 DOE
OTE up to 20% over salary (£75k if base is £65k)
Farnborough, Hants | Office-based | Full-time

A senior mechanical design role with real project ownership. You’ll join a specialist automation and materials handling manufacturer delivering bespoke systems for UK and international customers. Work ranges from simple conveyor layouts to full turnkey automation with mechanisms, pneumatics, controls integration, and custom assemblies. This is a fantastic SME boasting nearly 40 years in industry and a fantastic reputation.

You’ll take projects from concept through to completion, with project ownership responsibilities. That includes SolidWorks modelling, general assembly and detail drawings, BOM creation, customer reviews, site visits, and supporting the workshop during build. You’ll also guide technical decisions, mentor junior designers, and contribute to R&D. You will work collaboratively with a small team of Design Engineers, incorporating mechanical, electrical, and control, to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client specification.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
