Hays Engineering are delighted to be partnering with a leading and highly successful manufacturing organisation based in the Co Tyrone area to recruit a Senior Design Engineer. Operating on a global scale, this company designs and manufactures advanced capital equipment supplied to customers across a range of industrial sectors.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Design Engineer looking to take the next step in their career, leading complex design projects, influencing new product development and mentoring junior engineers within a highly collaborative engineering team.
Your New Role
As Senior Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of innovative mechanical equipment, supporting projects from concept through to manufacture.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading design and development activities for new and existing products
- Producing detailed 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings
- Managing engineering projects through the full product lifecycle
- Conducting design reviews, calculations and technical evaluations
- Working closely with manufacturing, procurement and quality teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and design optimisation activities
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
- Liaising with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders on technical matters
- Ensuring designs meet performance, safety and regulatory requirements

What You'll Need to Succeed
To be considered for this opportunity, you should possess:
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Significant experience within a mechanical design engineering environment
- Strong 3D CAD experience, ideally SolidWorks, Creo or a similar package
- Experience designing heavy engineering, machinery, materials handling or capital equipment products
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including fabrication, machining and assembly
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and project management abilities
- Previous experience mentoring or leading engineers would be highly advantageous
