Senior Design Engineer – Downhole Completion Tools
Location: Aberdeen, UK or Dubai, UAE
Salary: Up to £85,000 / US$115,600

Global Engineering Talent is supporting a global manufacturer of downhole completion technologies with the appointment of four experienced Senior Design Engineers across its Aberdeen and Dubai operations.
This is a senior, hands-on engineering position for someone with extensive experience designing downhole completion equipment - particularly packers - and taking products through design, qualification, manufacture and testing.
The role
You will be responsible for:
- Designing and developing packers and other downhole completion equipment
- Establishing engineering standards, processes and design practices
- Producing and reviewing detailed manufacturing drawings
- Creating assembly, disassembly and redress procedures
- Completing design calculations for completion equipment
- Preparing engineering test requests and technical reports
- Managing design plans, reviews and approvals
- Defining Design Acceptance Criteria against product and customer requirements
- Supporting new product development and equipment qualification
- Overseeing prototype assembly and workshop testing
- Reviewing customer specifications, technical data and design proposals
- Ensuring designs meet relevant performance and manufacturing requirements
- Managing engineering changes and communicating them to relevant teams
- Verifying drawings before equipment assembly and testing
- Providing technical guidance across engineering, operations and management teams
- Holding the assembly process where drawing or design discrepancies are identified

What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or a related discipline
- At least 10 years’ experience in downhole tools, well completions or a closely related field
- Strong knowledge of packer design and completion-equipment calculations
- Experience developing downhole equipment from concept through qualification and manufacture
- Sound understanding of API manufacturing principles
- Awareness of relevant standards, including API 11D1, API Q1, ASNT and AWS
- Strong mechanical drafting and manufacturing-drawing experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, CADWorx or comparable engineering design software
- Experience overseeing prototype assembly and physical product testing
- Fluent written and spoken English

Locations
Four engineers will be appointed across the two locations:
- Minimum of two positions in Aberdeen
- Minimum of one position in Dubai
- The fourth position may be based in either location
