As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will own defined design workstreams across new product development and continuous improvement. You will translate concepts into robust, validated, and manufacturable solutions, driving designs through the NPL process and working cross-functionally to ensure successful product delivery.
You will operate with a high level of autonomy, owning subsystem or product-level design outcomes, contributing to technical decisions while partnering with Lead engineers for overall design direction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and Development
- Develop concepts into manufacturable solutions, including 3D models, assemblies, and production drawings
- Build prototypes and conduct testing to validate design intent and performance
- Deliver complete, production-ready design outputs aligned to performance, cost, and quality targets
- Manage costed BOMs from concept through to production
- Drive product design and development from concept to product launch
NPL and Cross-Functional Delivery
- Own the delivery of design workstreams through the NPL process alongside Project Managers
- Maintain alignment on deliverables, cost, and timing across projects
- Collaborate with supply chain and operations to resolve vendor and manufacturing challenges
- Deliver accurate and timely engineering data packs to support product release
Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement
- Identify and resolve design issues, updating designs, drawings, and documentation as required
- Review existing products, identify improvement opportunities, and implement design changes
- Develop and execute cost-down initiatives to achieve target margins
- Support definition and execution of validation and verification strategies

Validation and Engineering Rigor
- Contribute to risk management activities including FMEA and DVP&R
- Perform validation and verification testing throughout the product lifecycle
- Support root cause analysis and troubleshooting across product and production issues
Collaboration and Influence
- Work cross-functionally with CX, Marketing, Sales, and Operations to capture user needs
- Mentor and support junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practice
- Build strong working relationships with engineering teams and global stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Approximately 5 to 10 years industry experience in a mechanical or product design role, ideally within a related field and with experience in gas products
- Degree in Product Design or Mechanical Engineering, minimum 2:1
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD, ideally SolidWorks
- Ability to produce detailed design drawings for manufacture
- Experience producing complex assemblies and detailed tolerance analysis
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly sheet metal, deep draw pressings, and castings
- Injection moulding experience advantageous
- Knowledge of DDM, PLM, or PDM systems beneficial
- Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis capability
- Proven ability to manage design workstreams and deliver to project timelines
