Role Description

This is a full-time position for a Senior / Design Manager who will lead and coordinate the design process from concept through construction, ensuring that design information is complete, accurate, and aligned with project objectives, budget, and program.

The role will collaborate closely with project managers, commercial teams, and site teams to ensure buildability, compliance with regulations, and adherence to client requirements. The Senior / Design Manager will also contribute to risk management, quality assurance, and continuous improvement of design processes and standards.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in design management or similar roles within construction, ideally in industrial, logistics, or commercial sectors.
  • Strong ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, manage design programs, and oversee consultant deliverables.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, building regulations, planning processes, and health and safety requirements.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and BIM or CAD models.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead meetings and resolve design issues.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk and change management.
  • Relevant professional qualification in construction, architecture, engineering, or a related discipline (e.g., degree or equivalent). Chartered or working towards chartership is an advantage.
  • Experience with main contractor environments and familiarity with design and build contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC) is beneficial.
  • Commitment to inclusive teamwork, continuous learning, and contributing to a positive, safety-focused site and office culture.
