BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Senior Design Manager to join the Central region.
Reporting to the Regional Design Manager. You will oversee the design management discipline, digital discipline, and establish and monitor robust strategies for new opportunities during pre-construction.
Making Possible
- Manage the design process to deliver technically compliant, cost-efficient and coordinated design packages, during both the pre-construction and project delivery stages.
- Liaise with subcontractors, design team members and external consultants, creating a collaborative environment to deliver design information that meets the clients requirements and conforms to building regulations.
- Overseeing a variety of contract types and multiple live projects, you will manage the design information release, production and approval of technical drawings, chair design workshops, coordinate complex design packages, and validate design details, adding value to the construction process.
- Providing expert guidance and technical support, you will work closely with both clients and project teams to identify and mitigate risks, as well as ensure compliance with all statutory, legal, and planning requirements.
- Assisting with the selection and scope of suitable subcontractors for Contractor Design Portions and working drawings.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
