Senior Design Researcher (Contract)

Duration: 6 Months (Possibility for extension)

Location: London/Hybrid (2 days per week on site)

Rate: A highly competitive Umbrella Day Rate or Salary is available for suitable candidates


Position Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Design Researcher to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of their Savings area. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading research initiatives that influence product development and decision-making processes.

This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to a dynamic team and drive impactful design strategies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct both qualitative and quantitative research to gather insights that inform the design and development of products within the Savings area.
  • Engage with stakeholders at various levels to understand their needs, challenges, and aspirations, ensuring that research findings are effectively communicated and applied.
  • Utilise usability testing methodologies to assess product performance and user experience, identifying areas for improvement and enhancement.
  • Lead strategic research initiatives, focusing on long-term goals and objectives rather than solely on delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to integrate research findings into the product development lifecycle.
  • Influence and shape decision-making processes through data-driven insights, advocating for user-centred design principles.
  • Mentor and guide junior researchers and design team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Design Researcher or in a similar role, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills, with the ability to analyse data and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated experience in usability testing methodologies and their application in enhancing user experiences.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and leadership abilities, with a track record of influencing decision-making across teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the capacity to focus on long-term objectives while managing immediate project requirements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
