Senior Design Researcher
12-Month Contract London (Here East, Stratford) | Onsite
£39.55/hr Umbrella Co Basis - Poss Negotiable
Are you passionate about shaping the future of automotive experiences through customer insight and human-centred design? We're currently seeking an experienced Senior Design Researcher to join an innovative product and design team working on next-generation vehicle experiences and technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to influence future mobility solutions within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
📍 Location: Here East, Stratford, London
🏢 Hybrid Working: Minimum 4 days per week onsite (mandatory)
💰 Rate: £39.55 per hour Umbrella (Inside IR35) - Potential flexibility Depending on experience
📅 Contract Length: 12 Months
⏰ Hours: 37.5 hours per week

What You'll Be Doing
As a Senior Design Researcher, you'll play a key role in bringing customer understanding into the development of future automotive products and experiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading end-to-end qualitative research across discovery, concept development, prototyping and evaluation
- Conducting customer interviews and uncovering behaviours, motivations, needs and pain points
- Evaluating early-stage concepts through storyboards, digital prototypes, physical prototypes and vehicle bucks
- Synthesising findings into actionable insights, opportunity areas and design recommendations
- Facilitating workshops to help teams transform customer insights into innovative propositions
- Influencing design, product and leadership decisions through compelling storytelling and evidence-based research
- Championing customer-centred design and best-practice research methods

What We're Looking For
- Significant experience within Design Research, UX Research, Human-Centred Design or a related field
- Strong qualitative research and customer interviewing expertise
- Experience working with multidisciplinary design, product or innovation teams
- Proven ability to translate complex research into actionable design direction
- Strong workshop facilitation, stakeholder management and presentation skills
- Comfortable working within fast-paced environments and navigating ambiguity
Desirable Experience
- Experience using Dovetail and/or dscout
- Automotive, mobility, transportation or consumer technology sector experience
- Researching and testing concepts across varying levels of prototype fidelity

Education
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience
- Relevant fields include:
- Design Research
- Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
- UX Design
- Interaction Design
- Psychology
- Anthropology
- Sociology
- Human Factors
- A postgraduate qualification is advantageous but not essential.
Additional Information
- Inside IR35
- Hybrid working with 4 days onsite in Stratford, London
- Occasional travel may be required depending on research study locations
