More about the role

As a Senior Designer at Argos, you’ll take ownership of your category, delivering commercial and inspirational designs that support our brand ambition and category vision. You’ll manage and mentor a team of Designers and Design Assistants, ensuring briefs are completed, deadlines are met, and objectives are achieved. Your responsibilities will include developing successful product ranges across home, furniture, seasonal, and gifting, managing relationships with suppliers and product developers, and representing the Design Team with stakeholders. You will be entrepreneurial and forward-thinking, with the ability to think creatively and inspire those around you. You should be adaptable in designing for a variety of categories, including Home, Seasonal, and Garden, whilst collaborating and working with our numerous external licensees.

You’ll be accountable for the delivery of the design strategy, from concept to launch, working closely with product development, buying, and supplier teams. You’ll identify new product opportunities, ensure quality and compliance, and use market data to inform your product strategy. Your entrepreneurial approach and leadership will help drive innovation and commercial success at Argos.

More about you

You are a creative and commercially minded design professional with experience managing teams in a fast-paced retail environment. You have a strong portfolio of relevant design work and a proven ability to deliver results through innovation, stakeholder engagement, and a deep understanding of customer needs. Your communication and relationship management skills enable you to influence across diverse audiences, and you thrive on mentoring others and driving continuous improvement.

You are adaptable, open-minded, and proactive in seeking feedback and new ways of working. Your technical expertise, commercial awareness, and passion for design ensure you consistently deliver high-quality, competitive products that delight Argos customers.


Essential criteria

  • Relevant design experience in a comparable product design and development role, including team management
  • Proven ability to deliver commercial and creative results in a dynamic retail environment
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with confidence in presenting and influencing
  • Technical expertise in product design, manufacturing processes, and use of design software (Photoshop and Illustrator)
  • Demonstrated commercial awareness, customer insight, and market knowledge
