Job summary

As Senior Designer, this role provides client-facing design support, workplace consultancy and commercial design expertise for significant sales opportunities across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. The role supports strategic projects, major accounts and key pursuits by translating client briefs into compelling workplace, furniture and product solutions that help customers visualise, evaluate and commit to MillerKnoll proposals.

Working closely with sales teams, dealers, architects, designers, internal specialists and end clients, the Senior Designer acts as a trusted advisor and brand ambassador. The role combines design creativity, product knowledge, technical understanding and commercial awareness to create high-quality, timely and persuasive responses that strengthen MillerKnoll’s position on must-win opportunities.

  • Provide design consultancy and strategic sales support on significant opportunities across the UK, Europe and Middle East, with a focus on major projects, key accounts and must-win pursuits.
  • Interpret client briefs, workplace challenges and commercial requirements into creative, functional and commercially viable furniture and workplace solutions.
  • Partner with sales teams, dealers, architects, designers and end clients to develop compelling design responses, product recommendations, planning concepts, mock-up proposals and tender support materials.
  • Act as a MillerKnoll brand ambassador, ensuring proposals reflect the strength of the MillerKnoll collective, align with brand standards and demonstrate clear product and workplace expertise.
  • Translate client requirements into MillerKnoll product solutions, typical components, finishes, special product requirements and clear design narratives that support decision-making.
  • Provide technical design input throughout the sales cycle, including support for tenders, client meetings, showroom presentations, mock-ups, installation coordination and post-presentation follow-up.
  • Collaborate with internal teams including sales, bids and proposals, product, specials, customer service, project installation and marketing to ensure design solutions are accurate, deliverable and commercially robust.
  • Support the development of special components, bespoke furniture and non-standard solutions where required, helping to coordinate feasibility, cost estimation, quotation inputs and design integrity.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of MillerKnoll products, finishes, applications, workplace trends, market requirements and competitor activity, using this insight to strengthen project outcomes.
  • Champion design quality, customer service, continuous improvement and effective use of design tools, helping sales teams and dealer partners deliver more persuasive, efficient and consistent client responses.

Job holder requirements

  • Proven experience in workplace design, interior design, furniture design, product application, space planning or design consultancy within a commercial interiors environment.
  • Strong ability to interpret client briefs, sometimes from limited information, and develop confident, creative and commercially relevant solutions.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to engage sales teams, dealers, architects, designers and senior client stakeholders.
  • Strong technical and visual communication capability, ideally including experience with AutoCAD, CET, pCon, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D visualisation, rendering or related design tools.
  • Deep interest in workplace trends, furniture specification, product detailing, finishes, materials and the translation of design intent into deliverable solutions.
  • Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-led sales environment.
  • Collaborative, proactive and customer-focused, with the ability to work independently while contributing positively to an international team.
  • Fluent written and spoken English; additional European or Middle Eastern languages would be advantageous.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK, Europe and the Middle East as required for client meetings, project workshops, showroom visits, mock-ups and key presentations.
