Senior Designer
The NEC Group is looking for talented and passionate individuals to join our dynamic team. Our mission is to create unforgettable experiences through world-class events and services.
We have a fantastic opening for a Senior Designer to join our Backstage support team in Marketing.
Our Backstage support teams are crucial to the delivery across all five of our venues – The NEC, bp pulse LIVE, Utilita Arena Birmingham, the ICC, and Vox - and include IT, Finance, Marketing, People, Legal, Safety and Procurement. Collaborating seamlessly with our frontline operational teams to create unforgettable moments for the millions of people that visit us each year.
About The Role
The Senior Designer will play a key role in delivering high-quality, distinctive and commercially effective creative work across the NEC Group’s venues, events and experiences. As part of the in-house Design Studio, you will take projects from initial brief and concept through to final delivery, creating impactful work across a wide range of channels. This is a hands-on role for a commercially minded creative who understands project objectives, challenges thinking where appropriate, and develops solutions that meet audience, brand and business needs.

Day to day you will:
- Develop and deliver high-quality creative concepts and design solutions from brief through to final execution.
- Create impactful creative assets across digital, print, social media, campaigns, signage, presentations and customer communications.
- Translate marketing and commercial objectives into audience-focused creative that drives engagement and results.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring work is delivered accurately, on brand and to agreed deadlines.
- Champion and safeguard NEC Group brand standards while continually enhancing creative quality and consistency.
- Develop integrated campaign creative that works effectively across paid, owned, digital and physical channels.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, confidently presenting ideas and collaborating with colleagues, agencies and suppliers.
- Stay ahead of design, digital and AI-enabled creative trends, bringing fresh ideas and innovative approaches to the Design Studio.
About You
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
- Around five years’ experience within an in-house design team, creative agency or similar environment.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating both creative thinking and excellent execution.
- Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Experience using Figma and designing for digital channels.
- A strong understanding of brand, marketing and audience.
- Experience developing creative across multiple channels and formats.
- The confidence to work autonomously and take ownership of projects.
- The ability to interpret and challenge briefs rather than simply execute them.
- Confidence presenting creative ideas and explaining the thinking behind them.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-moving environment.
