Senior Software Engineer – C# /.NET / SQL
Manchester – Hybrid, 2 days per week
Circa £95,000 + Benefits
We're looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a growing technology team working on the development and modernisation of a large-scale software platform.
This is a genuinely hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, cares about clean and maintainable code, and wants to contribute to architectural decisions rather than simply work through a backlog. You'll work across a modern Microsoft-focused environment, developing new functionality while helping evolve and modernise existing systems.
What you'll be doing
- Developing full-stack applications using C#,.NET, JavaScript and SQL
- Building and modernising applications using .NET 8+
- Writing and optimising SQL Server queries, with a strong focus on performance
- Designing solutions across distributed and event-driven architectures
- Improving search, data processing and application performance
- Helping modernise existing platform components
- Working with containerised applications and cloud infrastructure
- Contributing to architecture and technical design discussions
- Participating in code reviews and helping maintain strong engineering standards
- Using AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and quality
- Working collaboratively with other experienced engineers to solve complex problems

What we're looking for
You'll ideally have strong commercial experience with:
- C# /.NET
- SQL Server, including query optimisation, indexing, execution plans and performance tuning
- Async/await, memory management and resource handling
- RESTful/web-based applications
- JavaScript and modern web technologies
- Distributed systems, microservices and/or complex monolithic applications
- Clean Code, OOP and common software design patterns
- Automated testing and good software engineering practices
- Git and modern CI/CD environments
Experience with Azure would be beneficial. Exposure to technologies such as Elasticsearch, Event Store, Svelte.js, Pulumi, Neo4j, InfluxDB, Seq or Power BI would also be useful, but isn't essential.

Package
- Salary: Circa £95,000
- Location: Manchester
- Hybrid: 2 days per week in the Manchester office
