About The Role
We're looking for a Senior Developer to join SAL and help shape the future of our products. You'll work closely with our Head of Development to design and build the next generation of our platform while continuing to enhance and support our existing software, including our Windows desktop application and web-based financial modelling platform. We're currently modernising our software solutions, so your ideas, experience, and technical expertise will have a real impact. You'll play an important role not only in development, but also in influencing architecture, technical direction, and engineering standards. We're a small team, which means everyone has a voice. Communication is just as important as technical ability. Writing great code is only part of the role, you'll also need to collaborate effectively, explain technical decisions clearly, and work closely with colleagues across the business. We work in an agile environment, but we're pragmatic rather than process-driven. We care about delivering value, solving real problems, and continuously improving how we work.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance our existing software platforms.
- Work closely with the Head of Development to design and build our next-generation products.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making.
- Research, evaluate, and introduce new technologies where appropriate.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation.
- Share knowledge and support other members of the team.
- Continuously look for ways to improve our products, processes, and engineering practices.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
