Location: Horsham

Salary: Negotiable depending on experience

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week. Core working hours Monday-Friday (8:30am-5:30pm)

About The Role

We're looking for a skilled and proactive Senior PHP Developer to join our Development team, taking ownership of technical solutions that support our digital platforms, customer journeys, and wider business objectives.

In this role, you'll design, develop, test, and maintain PHP-based applications and integrations, working closely with Marketing and stakeholders across the business to translate requirements into effective, scalable solutions. You'll enhance existing functionality, troubleshoot technical issues, and continuously improve the performance, reliability, and user experience of our platforms.

What You Will Be Doing

Key Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the marketing development stream, delivering technical solutions that support marketing campaigns, digital initiatives, and business growth.
  • Lead the creation, deployment, maintenance, and continuous optimisation of digital customer journeys, ensuring a seamless and effective user experience.
  • Interpret project briefs and business requirements, defining scope, technical requirements, delivery plans, and appropriate solutions from concept through to implementation.
  • Develop clean, efficient, maintainable, and testable code using PHP, following development best practices and coding standards.
  • Design, develop, and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity, reliability, and efficient performance.
  • Test and troubleshoot applications, identifying and resolving software defects while continuously optimising system performance, functionality, and reliability.
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing and wider business teams to translate requirements into effective technical solutions and deliver projects to agreed timescales.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of digital platforms, identifying opportunities to enhance functionality, customer experience, conversion, and operational efficiency.

What We Are Looking For

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience as a Full-Stack PHP Developer, with strong expertise across PHP, Apache/Nginx, SQL, and Linux environments.
  • Proven experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and third-party services, alongside deploying and managing applications within Cloud infrastructure.
  • Strong database expertise, including schema design, query optimisation, data integrity, and performance.
  • Excellent development and problem-solving skills, with experience testing, troubleshooting, resolving bugs, and delivering clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • A collaborative approach, with experience working alongside developers and business stakeholders within Agile development environments to deliver effective technical solutions.

Desirable:

  • Strong JavaScript experience, alongside PHP and modern full-stack development practices.
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases, including SQL Server, with a strong understanding of database design and querying.
  • Experience with modern frameworks and libraries, including Laravel, Vue, Livewire, and Alpine.
  • Experience working within Ubuntu, Docker, and/or Azure environments, including application deployment and infrastructure support.
  • Proficient in Git and version control, with experience working collaboratively across development environments.
  • Experience writing automated unit and feature tests to support code quality, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Good understanding of CI/CD practices, including continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, or integrating CMS platforms and third-party systems, including HubSpot.
