About the Service
Cornwall Council Information Services are working to build high quality digital applications for our residents and staff. We have adopted Microsoft Dynamics and Power Platform to support multiple business applications across the authority. We’ve already built many applications and we need talented people with automated testing skills to join our growing team, help us accelerate the roll out of additional applications and to continually exploit new and emerging capabilities.
Senior Developers in Test are critical to our success, and we are pleased to offer an opportunity to join us for a 7 month fixed term maternity cover.
We’re a diverse team with experience spanning testing, front end, UI, UX, back end.
About the Role
Among the tools we use to deliver and test our applications include:
- Cypress, Playwright, AccelQ, postman
- Dynamics Customer Service including Omnichannel and PVA integration
- PowerApps portals
- PowerAutomate/Flows
- Wider Azure Stack (b2b, b2c, storage, functions, user management & permission handling etc…)
- DevOps, GIT repos and pipelines -.Net framework, .Net core, C#, Javascript/Typescript/React, SQL, HTML, SCSS/CSS
- Power BI
You are not expected to know all of the above, however you should consider yourself an expert in automated testing tools and have experience in leading testing across a large platform. The role will also require some manual testing, therefore experience in manual testing of applications built in the technologies listed is also essential.
You are able to lead and direct specialist teams in testing and monitoring technical customer platforms or solutions. You will be responsible for making decisions on technical approach to testing, automated test design and overseeing all testing across a platform of over 30 applications.
You are able to take high level business requirements & problems and translate these to effective solutions. You enjoy working directly with your customers to help them to solve their business problems and meet their objectives. You understand the importance of designing for consistency, resilience and supportability.
We are an Agile team, so you will need to be flexible, adept at working in sprint cycles and comfortable with rapid fail fast principles. We work closely with our customers in smaller iterative deliveries.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
