Key Responsibilities
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Design and deliver innovative solutions: Lead the development of internal applications, integrations and automations from initial concept and prototyping through to testing, deployment and ongoing support.
- Build technology that makes a difference: Create scalable applications, APIs, scripts and automated workflows using modern technologies such as Python, TypeScript, C#, SQL and cloud-based platforms to help our people work smarter.
- Connect our systems: Develop secure, reliable integrations between Menzies' platforms and third-party applications using APIs, web services, databases and automation tools to create seamless business processes.
- Partner with the business: Work closely with teams across the firm to understand challenges, identify opportunities for improvement and deliver practical technology solutions that have a real impact on the way we work.
- Unlock the power of data and AI: Build intelligent tools that make the most of our Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery and AI capabilities, helping colleagues make better decisions and deliver greater value to clients.
- Champion engineering excellence: Develop high-quality, well-tested solutions using modern software engineering practices, including Git/GitHub, code reviews, CI/CD, monitoring and technical documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement: Enhance and optimise existing applications, automations and integrations, reducing manual effort, increasing reliability and improving the user experience.
- Collaborate across technology teams: Work alongside data engineers and analysts to ensure applications use data effectively while complementing our wider data platform.
- Build security into everything: Ensure every solution is designed with GDPR, information security, authentication and data protection at its core.
- Help shape our Innovation Team: Share your expertise, mentor colleagues and contribute to developing best practices as our growing Innovation Team continues to evolve.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
What We’re Looking For:
We're looking for someone who's passionate about building technology that solves real business challenges. You'll enjoy working with a variety of stakeholders, embracing new technologies, and creating solutions that make a genuine impact across the firm.
Qualifications
- A degree, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems or a related field.
- Microsoft, Google Cloud, software development, integration or automation certifications are a bonus, but they're by no means essential.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Strong programming skills in Python and TypeScript, with experience of SQL and cloud-based development. Experience with C#, Java or other programming languages would be an advantage.
- A solid understanding of APIs, authentication, web services, data formats and relational databases.
- Experience developing internal applications, automations or integrations that support day-to-day business operations.
- Familiarity with modern software development practices, including Git/GitHub, testing, code reviews, documentation and deployment.
- Experience with integration platforms, automation tools, low-code solutions and cloud technologies. Exposure to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure or Terraform would be beneficial but isn't essential.
- A good understanding of GDPR, cyber security, secure development, access management and data protection.
- The ability to balance rapid innovation with building reliable, scalable solutions that stand the test of time.

Experience
- Around 3–5 years' experience in software development, integration engineering, automation engineering or a similar technical role.
- A proven track record of delivering software, applications or automation solutions that are used by business teams in a live environment.
- Experience within professional services, finance, accounting, legal, tax or audit would be advantageous, but we're equally keen to hear from candidates with transferable experience from other industries.
Travel
Occasional travel to other Menzies offices for workshops, discovery sessions, project delivery and team collaboration.
