Senior Development Manager
North East England £65,000 - £75,000
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Development Manager to join a leading housing and development organisation, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of residential-led development projects from initial identification through to completion and the end of the defects liability period.
The Role
You will:
- Lead and manage residential development schemes from inception through to completion.
- Take accountability for programme, cost, quality, risk, and overall project performance.
- Manage project appraisals, cashflow, budgets, and financial forecasts.
- Lead planning, procurement, and contractor/development partner appointments.
- Attend and chair project and site meetings, acting as the client representative.
- Identify, manage, and report project risks, contractual issues, and variations.
- Ensure schemes comply with relevant policies, governance requirements, and funding conditions.
- Identify opportunities for future development and contribute to wider business and development strategies.

About You
You’ll ideally have:
- Significant experience delivering large, multi-tenure residential development schemes.
- Strong commercial experience across planning, viability, procurement, and contractor management.
- A strong understanding of the planning system and relevant legislation.
- Experience managing complex development projects involving multiple disciplines and external partners.
- Strong financial and commercial awareness, including budget and cashflow management.
- Experience of partnership working, development agreements, or joint ventures.
