Senior Development Manager

North East England £65,000 - £75,000

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Development Manager to join a leading housing and development organisation, taking responsibility for the successful delivery of residential-led development projects from initial identification through to completion and the end of the defects liability period.

The Role

You will:

  • Lead and manage residential development schemes from inception through to completion.
  • Take accountability for programme, cost, quality, risk, and overall project performance.
  • Manage project appraisals, cashflow, budgets, and financial forecasts.
  • Lead planning, procurement, and contractor/development partner appointments.
  • Attend and chair project and site meetings, acting as the client representative.
  • Identify, manage, and report project risks, contractual issues, and variations.
  • Ensure schemes comply with relevant policies, governance requirements, and funding conditions.
  • Identify opportunities for future development and contribute to wider business and development strategies.

About You

You’ll ideally have:

  • Significant experience delivering large, multi-tenure residential development schemes.
  • Strong commercial experience across planning, viability, procurement, and contractor management.
  • A strong understanding of the planning system and relevant legislation.
  • Experience managing complex development projects involving multiple disciplines and external partners.
  • Strong financial and commercial awareness, including budget and cashflow management.
  • Experience of partnership working, development agreements, or joint ventures.
