What You'll Be Doing
- Plans and manages application development and client delivery activities for an assigned WPG application portfolio, including components of large-scale, complex payment gateway platforms.
- Leads teams responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing and supporting software product applications and proprietary internal technology services.
- Manages the full software development lifecycle, including planning, design, delivery, testing, implementation, release readiness, production support and audit obligations.
- Oversees product design, technical analysis, bug verification, beta support and continuous improvement activity across assigned applications and services.
- Resolves critical delivery, quality and operational issues, acting as an escalation point for complex engineering and client delivery matters.
- Manages the work efforts of managers, supervisors, engineers, analysts and associated delivery resources, including hiring, performance management, pay review input, coaching and development.
- Identifies, plans and allocates technical resources, including software engineers, programmers, business analysts, quality engineers and purchased resources, to meet portfolio and client delivery priorities.
- Forecasts resource needs based on portfolio demand, product roadmap commitments, projected client spend, operational priorities and platform modernisation activity.
- Maximises effective utilisation, delivery throughput and value from assigned teams while maintaining quality, resilience and sustainable engineering practices.
- Ensures base applications, payment gateway services and supporting platforms meet appropriate quality, security, resilience and operational readiness standards.
- Adheres to departmental application development, software delivery, client delivery, change management and operational governance process standards.
- Provides input to product managers and technology leaders on product direction, delivery feasibility, engineering risk, technical debt and platform capability.
- Coordinates with industry compliance consultants, product managers, security, risk, audit and operational teams to verify that applications meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Ensures the proper application of technology, engineering standards, architecture principles, cloud practices and development methods across assigned teams.
- Contributes to business unit and technology area development through leadership of people, methods, delivery improvements, platform simplification and operational excellence.
- Other related duties assigned as needed.

What you'll bring:
- Knowledge of Worldpay and GlobalPayments products, services, payment gateway capabilities and customer-facing technology platforms.
- Knowledge of application development, software engineering, architecture, quality engineering, production support and client delivery practices.
- Knowledge of regulated technology environments, including PCI, security, risk, audit, compliance evidence and operational control obligations.
- Knowledge of cloud, platform and DevOps engineering principles, including CI/CD, automation, observability, infrastructure as code and modern deployment practices.
- Skill in project management, organisation, communication, analysis, stakeholder engagement and people leadership.
- Skill in leading, supervising and managing effectively under pressure across complex, high-availability technology environments.
- Skill in translating client, product and operational requirements into clear engineering priorities and delivery plans.
- Ability to interact confidently with executive-level clients, senior internal stakeholders, suppliers and technology leaders.
- Ability to analyse client and business needs and determine the related application, platform and information services support required.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with clients, product partners, engineering teams and operational stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, delivery priorities, dependencies, risks and problem areas concurrently.
- Ability to delegate work to qualified managers, supervisors, engineers, analysts and delivery leads as appropriate.
- Ability to lead, direct and manage effectively across matrixed, distributed and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to operate independently while maintaining appropriate governance, communication and escalation.
- Ability to demonstrate sound decision-making and problem-solving skills in complex delivery and operational situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Experience
- Typically requires nine or more years of experience in software development, application delivery, technology operations or platform engineering.
- Typically requires seven or more years of management or supervisory experience.
- Experience managing application development teams delivering complex, business-critical or high-volume technology services.
- Experience managing managers, supervisors or senior technical leads, with responsibility for performance, capability, resource planning and delivery outcomes.
- Experience working in payments, financial technology, regulated technology or other high-availability environments is desirable.
- Senior-level management role working under the general direction of middle or executive-level technology management.
- Manages and mentors teams of software development managers, supervisors, engineers, programmer analysts and associated delivery resources.
- Participates in the corporate development of methods, projects, programmes, operating practices and people capability.
- Controls decisions across a broad application development and client delivery function.
- Serves as a project leader, escalation point and subject matter expert for application development, delivery planning, engineering execution and operational readiness.
- Provides input into strategic direction for WPG application development, platform capability, engineering methods and delivery improvement.
- In some instances, this manager may have subordinate managers or supervisors.

The team works across application development, platform engineering, product, service management, security, risk and compliance to deliver resilient, scalable and well-controlled software for business-critical payment processing.
