Senior Development Technologist - Bread

Salisbury | £competitive | Permanent

We’re recruiting for an established UK bakery manufacturer looking for a Senior Development Technologist to join its development team following the retirement of its sourdough specialist. The priority is simple: strong hands-on bread and bakery expertise.

You don’t necessarily need an extensive NPD background. If you understand sourdough, fermentation and commercial bread production, the development side can be supported and developed.

The Role

  • You’ll take ownership of bakery projects from concept through to launch, with a particular focus on sourdough and fermented products.
  • Lead sourdough and bread development projects
  • Develop breads, rolls, buns and premium bakery products
  • Run kitchen, factory and production trials
  • Deliver customer-led and blue-sky innovation
  • Work directly with major UK retailers
  • Present products and concepts to customers
  • Work closely with Production, Technical, Commercial and Operations
  • Manage multiple projects independently

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
