Senior Development Technologist

Are you an experienced food product developer with a passion for bringing innovative products to market? We are looking for a Senior Development Technologist to join our NPD team, leading exciting product development projects from concept through to successful launch.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in creating commercially successful products while working closely with customers, suppliers and cross-functional teams within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

About The Role

As a Senior Development Technologist, you will be responsible for developing new and improved products across multiple categories, ensuring they meet customer expectations, food safety requirements and commercial objectives.

Working closely with operational, technical and commercial teams, you will manage projects from initial ideation through to launch and post-launch review, ensuring products are both innovative and feasible for production.

  • Lead product development projects from concept through to successful launch.
  • Create and develop innovative products using market trends, customer feedback and industry insights.
  • Conduct recipe development, tasting panels, factory trials and cooking validations.
  • Work collaboratively with production, technical, procurement and commercial teams to ensure successful product launches.
  • Present concepts and products to customers and suppliers.
  • Coordinate packaging development and support project milestone delivery.
  • Prepare accurate product specifications, development documentation and costings.
  • Ensure all products meet food safety, legal and customer requirements.
  • Support and deputise for the NPD Manager when required.
  • Drive continuous improvement and contribute to sustainability initiatives across the business.

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Previous experience developing and launching food products into the market.
  • Strong knowledge of the food manufacturing and new product development process.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience building effective relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • The ability to prioritise multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • A proactive approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Flexibility to travel between sites and attend customer meetings when required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant degree or higher-level qualification, ideally in Food Science or a related discipline.
  • Full UK driving licence.
