Are you a commercially minded underwriter who enjoys building broker relationships and finding opportunities for growth? We’re looking for a Senior Development Underwriter to help expand our business, assess complex risks and deliver thoughtful underwriting solutions. You’ll combine technical expertise with a proactive approach to developing new opportunities and strengthening existing partnerships.
What You’ll Be Doing
Working across both New Business and Renewals you will assist in the Underwriting, Administration, Management and Development of the Charity, Faith and Recruitment products in accordance with individual and collective targets and service levels. Using your experience, knowledge, and skills to deal with New Business, Renewals and MTAs for our Brokers.
- Supporting and working directly with the technical leads you will work on development of our existing products whilst developing new niche sector propositions.
- To constantly monitor the development of our peer competitors allowing for us to be focused on key development requirements and potential product or segment differentiators.
- Working with the management team and Q’s Sales team you will work on our distribution model ensuring it maximises our potential.
- To monitor and feedback areas of concern in and around pricing or performance.
- To support the Senior team working with the MGU to provide data and commentary in relation to business performance whilst assisting the delivery of the underwriting strategy and guidance as agreed to the team.
- Assist in monitoring the performance of the account in line with Insurer target COR’s.
- You will support the lead technical underwriters in all duties to include but not limited to ensuring, operational regulatory and Insurer returns are made in good time to include but not limited to QA, breach, GDPR, complaint reporting, product governance returns and consumer duty reporting.

What We’re Looking For
- Experience of working at a senior level.
- You will have experience of working within a regulated FCA environment with a minimum 10 years’ Underwriting experience in the Insurance Industry with a good level of property experience.
- You will have and be able to demonstrate a proven successful record of managing people.
- Understanding of the FCA T&C role and importance of Compliance within a regulated industry.
- You will have a good technical knowledge of commercial property insurance business and understanding of sector specific commercial schemes.
- You will have an in depth understanding of the Broker market & ability to develop effective broker relationships.
- An understanding of working through and delivering P&L’s.
- Ability to lead a team through a transitional change ensuring that the focus remains on delivering a high quality of service and is aligned to the business objectives.
