The opportunity
Would you like to play a pivotal role in building a multiline and multinational Technology portfolio in the regional market? Do you thrive on influencing the market, unlocking new opportunities, and shaping portfolios?
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished and market-credible Senior Development Underwriter to play a leading role in shaping Zurich's Technology proposition across the UK. In this newly created role, you will combine technical expertise, commercial judgement, strong negotiation skills and broker leadership, playing a key part in driving our new business strategy and establishing a strong presence in this specialist market.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will underwrite complex Technology accounts, develop and strengthen broker relationships across the UK, and contribute to profitable growth. You will influence underwriting decisions, support portfolio strategy and help position Zurich as a leading insurer in the Technology sector.
This role offers the opportunity to lead from the front—bringing thought leadership, supporting strong governance and portfolio stewardship, and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders. You will join a high-performing regional team where senior expertise is valued, and where you can actively contribute to the long-term success and profitability of our Technology business.
Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours.
This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.
What will you be doing?
- Driving strategic growth: Lead the identification, development, and conversion of high-value mid-market Technology opportunities, positioning Zurich as the insurer of choice.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers and internal stakeholders.
- Focus on primary and excess Technology accounts and multinational opportunities.
- Working very closely with Zurich Resilience Solutions (ZRS) to deliver unique risk management solutions to our Technology clients.
- Conduct detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify pipeline opportunities.
- Act as the subject matter expert in the regional team and assist in training and developing others internally and externally.
- Lead and direct negotiation of Terms & Conditions to close deals.
- Identify new product development initiatives.
- Contribute to the team strategy, operate team activities and execute team initiatives, in the regional markets.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
