About Us
Snappy Shopper is the UK’s fastest-growing quick commerce (Q-commerce) platform powering rapid grocery delivery from local convenience stores. We enable independent retailers and major partners, including SPAR, Nisa, Premier, Co-op and others, to digitally transform their business by offering same-day and rapid delivery of food, drink and everyday essentials within as little as 30-60 minutes. Customers on our platform typically spend significantly more online than in-store, helping retailers grow revenue and deepen community engagement.
We’re more than a delivery app, we’re a technology partner for local high streets, providing tools for digital sales, marketing solutions, and integrations that help retailers compete with larger online players.
At Snappy Shopper, we’re committed to innovation, retail empowerment and community impact, helping stores thrive digitally, offering exceptional local convenience to customers, and shaping the future of on-demand retail in the UK.
Our Location
We are a UK company with colleagues across the country and offices in Dundee and Edinburgh. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday, remote role with occasional requirement to attend our offices.
About the Team
You'll join our Infrastructure team, working closely with Software Engineers and other technical teams to keep the systems behind Snappy secure, reliable and performing at their best.
We're looking for someone who combines modern DevOps expertise with strong, hands-on systems administration knowledge, equally comfortable working with AWS and Terraform as they are getting under the hood of Linux production environments and troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the Role
As a Senior DevOps and Systems Engineer, you'll take a hands-on role in running and evolving the infrastructure our platform depends on.
You'll work across our AWS estate, Linux systems, networking, CDN and WAF, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and monitoring – owning problems through to resolution and helping us build a more resilient and automated environment.
Day-to-day, you will:
- Manage, monitor and improve our AWS estate and underlying Linux infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across systems, networking and applications.
- Maintain and optimise nginx, Redis and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch.
- Maintain and extend Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and configuration management through Ansible.
- Write and tune WAF rules across Akamai and Cloudflare.
- Support and improve our CI/CD pipelines.
- Monitor platform health using tools including Zabbix, CloudWatch, Pingdom and New Relic.
- Investigate production incidents, identify root causes and work with the appropriate teams to implement lasting fixes.
- Automate repetitive work and reduce operational toil using Python and Bash.
This role includes participation in our on-call rota once you're fully onboarded.
You'll Bring
You'll bring solid experience in a similar DevOps or Platform Engineering role, as well as systems fundamentals, and be comfortable working across cloud infrastructure, Linux systems and production environments.
You'll also be comfortable taking ownership when it matters most. Whether responding to a production incident or supporting a major release, you remain calm, communicate clearly and focus on restoring service while identifying opportunities to prevent similar issues in future.
