Senior DevOps Engineer - SC Cleared (Required)
6-12 months
£500 / day (Inside IR35)
Remote
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will support the development and operation of critical digital services through automation, modern tooling, and best-in-class engineering practices. Aligned to Government Digital and Data (DDaT) standards, your focus will be on building, deploying, and operating reliable, secure, and repeatable services using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automated deployment pipelines.
In this role, you will place automation at the core of your work—developing robust CI/CD pipelines, creating resilient DevOps toolchains, and designing solutions across multiple cloud environments that are highly available, scalable, extensible, and maintainable.
Key Responsibilities
- Automation and Toolchains: Design, build, and maintain automated CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains, striving to embed automation across the entire software delivery lifecycle.
- Cloud Architecture and Infrastructure: Provision, implement, and maintain highly available, resilient, and scalable cloud infrastructure and services.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with multidisciplinary, product-focused Agile teams (Scrum/Kanban) to gather technical requirements, evaluate modern tooling, and assist with operational issues.
- Environment Management: Provision, configure, and maintain stable development, staging, and production environments.
- Legacy Migration: Support the modernization and migration of legacy applications into secure cloud environments.
- Standards and Security: Ensure all platforms, configurations, and deployment strategies align strictly with DDaT and government security standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
