Senior DevOps Engineer

Location: Derby (Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite)

Contract Length: October 2026 - May 2027

Security Clearance: BPSS required to start. SC Clearance can be processed concurrently during onboarding.

Rate: Competitive Market Rates

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to support a major enterprise transformation programme focused on infrastructure modernisation, cloud automation, and platform engineering within a complex engineering and manufacturing environment.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in designing, automating, and supporting enterprise-scale cloud and container platforms, driving best practices across infrastructure, deployment automation, security, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead OpenShift Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development and automation initiatives.
  • Design and implement Azure platform automation solutions.
  • Develop and maintain reusable deployment patterns and standards.
  • Own technical governance and best practices across the DevOps function.
  • Drive OpenShift architecture, platform automation, and infrastructure delivery.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines and deployment orchestration.
  • Support Kubernetes and OpenShift platform troubleshooting and optimisation.
  • Deliver secure and compliant infrastructure solutions.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and observability tooling across environments.
  • Collaborate with engineering, architecture, and delivery teams to improve deployment efficiency and platform reliability.
  • Champion automation-first approaches to infrastructure and application deployment.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience administering Microsoft Azure environments.
  • Extensive experience with Azure Red Hat OpenShift (ARO) and/or OpenShift Container Platform.
  • Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development.
  • Strong Kubernetes and OpenShift troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience designing and maintaining enterprise-scale CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security and secure delivery practices.
  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions.
  • Ability to define technical standards, governance, and reusable deployment frameworks.
  • Experience working within large-scale enterprise transformation programmes.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience within highly regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of enterprise asset management platforms such as Maximo.
  • Experience supporting international deployments and multi-region cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and tooling.
  • Previous experience working within engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, or defence sectors.
