Senior DevOps Engineer

Security clearance is desirable.
MUST – Candidates must be SC clearable!

£70,000-£80,000 + Excellent company benefits
Remote working – Gloucester HQ (occasional travel to client sites across London and other cities).

Areti is partnering with a highly respected technology consultancy delivering secure, mission-critical software solutions to government and enterprise customers across the UK. Due to continued growth and a substantial pipeline of projects, we are seeking an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a talented engineering team delivering complex cloud-native solutions within highly secure environments.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work on large-scale programmes, helping design, build and optimise modern infrastructure platforms while influencing technical direction and mentoring fellow engineers.

The Role

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, implementing and maintaining robust cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines for bespoke software solutions. Working within Agile delivery teams, you will support the development of highly available, secure and scalable platforms used in critical operational environments.

You will collaborate closely with software engineers, architects and stakeholders to drive automation, reliability and continuous improvement across the software delivery lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain cloud infrastructure within AWS environments.
  • Deploy, manage and optimise Kubernetes clusters and containerised workloads.
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using modern automation tooling.
  • Create and enhance CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery and deployment.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting and observability solutions across infrastructure and applications.
  • Ensure infrastructure is highly available, resilient, secure and cost-effective.
  • Support security, compliance and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, platform and deployment issues.
  • Continuously improve platform performance, reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical mentorship and support to junior DevOps engineers.
  • Work closely with delivery teams in Agile environments to support successful project outcomes.

Required Experience

  • Strong commercial experience within a DevOps, Platform Engineering or Cloud Engineering role.
  • Proven experience designing and operating AWS cloud environments.
  • Hands-on Kubernetes administration and container orchestration experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Docker and containerisation best practices.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab or Jenkins.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools including Terraform and Packer.
  • Experience building and supporting highly available production platforms.
  • Understanding of security best practices within cloud and DevOps environments.
  • Experience working within Agile software development teams.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the projects, candidates must be eligible for high-level UK security clearance. To be considered, applicants must:

  • Hold British Citizenship.
  • Have lived continuously in the UK for the past five years.
  • Be willing to undergo the relevant security clearance process.
