Senior DevOps Engineer / DevOps Team Lead – Insurtech

UK Remote | Competitive Salary

Are you an experienced DevOps Engineer looking for the opportunity to remain technically hands-on while taking your first or next step into team leadership? We are recruiting for an exciting, growing Insurtech business developing sophisticated data and risk technology for the Property Insurance market. Their platform helps major clients understand and manage risk across large property portfolios, using advanced data, analytics and emerging AI technologies. This is a great opportunity to join a small, highly capable technology team where you will have genuine influence over the company’s DevOps environment and how it evolves.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Technology, you’ll take responsibility for the day-to-day DevOps environment while initially providing technical guidance, coaching and support to a small number of more junior engineers. This is very much a hands-on, player-coach role – you’ll still be personally involved in technical delivery rather than simply allocating work and managing a team.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, building and maintaining cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tooling, ensuring secure, scalable and reliable environments
  • Remaining hands-on with day-to-day DevOps delivery, including writing and managing DevOps tickets, implementing infrastructure changes, automating deployments and resolving technical issues
  • Mentoring and coaching junior engineers, providing technical guidance, code reviews and support while helping them develop their skills
  • Working closely with the Head of Technology, Software Engineering and Data Science teams to prioritise workloads and ensure infrastructure supports the company’s product and technology roadmap
  • Monitoring platform performance, security and reliability, proactively improving resilience, observability, automation and cost efficiency
  • Helping establish and champion DevOps best practice across Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, incident management, documentation and continuous improvement

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
