Senior DevOps Engineer – Contract

Location: London – Hybrid, 1 day per week onsite
Day Rate: £450 per day
IR35: Inside IR35
Contract Type: Contract
Clearance: BPSS
Team: Software Engineering

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer to join a major UK digital transformation programme.

You will work within a Software Engineering team, helping to build and improve development tooling, infrastructure and CI/CD processes. The position combines DevOps expertise with a modern AWS serverless environment and requires someone comfortable working across both infrastructure and application delivery.

You will be expected to operate at senior/SME level, collaborating across multiple teams, contributing to technical decisions and helping ensure platforms are scalable, reliable and secure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain development tools and cloud infrastructure.
  • Design, build and improve end-to-end CI/CD pipelines.
  • Support AWS serverless applications using services such as Lambda, DynamoDB and API Gateway.
  • Automate development, deployment and infrastructure processes.
  • Work closely with software engineering and cross-functional teams.
  • Improve the scalability, reliability and security of development and deployment processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing workflows through automation.
  • Monitor platform performance and proactively address potential issues.
  • Act as a DevOps SME and contribute to key technical and architectural decisions.

Essential Experience

We are looking for candidates with strong commercial experience across:

  • Senior-level DevOps / Cloud Engineering
  • AWS
  • CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
  • Cloud automation
  • Configuration and release management
  • Infrastructure and deployment automation
  • Working within modern software engineering environments
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills

Expert-level DevOps capability is required, with cloud automation, configuration/release management and continuous improvement also highlighted for the role.

Desirable / Relevant Application Experience

Experience working alongside or supporting development teams using TypeScript, Next.js, Playwright and AWS serverless technologies would be particularly beneficial.
