Senior DevOps Engineer | London-based Hybrid Working | Initial 6-month contract | Competitive in-scope day-rate
Overview
We're hiring three experienced, application-focused DevOps Engineers to support a high-priority migration from Axway to SFTPGo (open source) for a financial-markets infrastructure client in London. You'll help build and operate SFTPGo on an on-prem Kubernetes/OpenShift platform, automating deployment, configuration, testing and migration activities. This is not an infrastructure DevOps role — the focus is on enabling an application platform through code.
Start: ASAP — immediate availability strongly preferred
What you'll do
- Deploy and configure SFTPGo on Kubernetes/OpenShift.
- Create and maintain Helm charts, including building new charts from scratch.
- Automate SFTPGo configuration — including users and permissions — using Terraform. A proof-of-concept is already complete and a non-prod environment with AD integration is live; the Terraform automation piece is the immediate priority.
- Work with GitOps workflows, CI/CD pipelines, Linux scripting, containerisation, and secrets management.
- Support a parallel-run, wave-based migration from the legacy Axway estate. Around 20–25 internal applications currently publish files through the platform, some polling as frequently as every five minutes, so cutover waves need careful sequencing to avoid disruption.
- Build platform-level automated testing and work with application, network, storage and security teams.

Note on scale: file volumes are modest (mostly small files, up to a few GB) and largely batch-based — this is an automation and reliability challenge more than a big-data one.
What you'll bring

- Strong Kubernetes and Helm experience, including creating charts from scratch.
- Hands-on Terraform and infrastructure/application configuration as code.
- Application-aligned DevOps experience, ideally supporting containerised or microservice-based applications.
- Experience with GitOps, GitLab CI/CD or similar tooling.
- Comfortable working in Linux environments and scripting.
- Knowledge of containerisation, TLS/PKI, secrets management, and HashiCorp Vault or similar.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL and S3-compatible object storage.
- Understanding of SFTP, networking fundamentals, firewalls, NAT, DMZs, and load balancing.
Desirable
- Experience with SFTPGo, Axway, or other managed file-transfer platforms.
- Experience migrating legacy systems to containers, including parallel runs and phased cutovers.
- OpenShift exposure.
