The Royal Marsden Hospital
The Royal Marsden Hospital is one of Europe’s largest Oncology centre and was the world’s first hospital dedicated to cancer research, diagnosis, treatment, and education, with sites in Chelsea and Sutton. The Diagnostic Imaging service provides an essential service to the Trust and includes CT with dual energy, MRI 1.5T and 3T, high-quality oncology imaging, Mammography including large field and interventional procedures, Ultrasound, as well as general X-Ray, IR, fluoroscopy, and theatres.
Our partnership with The Institute of Cancer Research and other key organizations means we offer access to the newest clinical trials and clinical trials of novel anti-cancer agents. All imaging modalities are fundamental to this process, and forefront techniques and protocols are constantly being evolved within Radiology.
Job Opportunity
We are currently inviting applications from enthusiastic CT/X-ray HCPC registered, trained radiographers for a .8wte WTE fixed-term band 7 radiographer post on the Sutton site. Applicants will preferably have significant post-graduate experience and CT/x-ray specific experience.
Responsibilities
- Work as a senior radiographer in x-ray and CT, liaising with radiologists and clinicians in charge of a patient.
- Have a minimum of 4 years post-registration experience.
- Hold a BSc in Radiography or equivalent.
- Be HCPC state registered.
- Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in the provision of an efficient and effective Diagnostic Imaging Service.
- Liaise with the clinicians in charge of a patient, with ward and other departmental staff within the multi-disciplinary team.
- Work in the X-ray and CT department.
- Uphold the highest standards in x-ray.
- Work with the Superintendent Radiographer to facilitate the training of radiographers on rotation through the x-ray and CT department.
- Assist with interventional, fluoroscopy, and dental procedures, e.g., OPG and fluoroscopy.
- Deputize for the modality Superintendent Radiographer when necessary.
- Liaise with a variety of staff throughout the Trust within the Multi-Disciplinary Team. These will include senior Medical and Nursing staff as well as Clinical Services’ Divisional staff.
- Key working relationships will be with the Superintendent Radiographers, Consultant Imaging staff, Consultant Medical and Surgical staff.
- Work with non-hospital staff involved in the provision of equipment, materials, and services for diagnostic imaging.
