If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.
We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Senior Digital Product Design Lead. You’ll own the end-to-end digital experience design for journeys across HSBC UK’s digital channels. You’ll define a clear experience vision and outcomes, translate strategy into a multi-quarter experience roadmap, and partner with cross-functional teams to deliver market-leading experiences that meet brand, accessibility, governance and risk standards. You’ll use customer insight, data and testing to continuously improve experiences, grow adoption, and strengthen customer outcomes.
As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.
In this role you’ll:
- Set vision, strategy, and roadmap: Define and communicate a multi-quarter experience vision for your pillar, aligned to product strategy, customer needs, and HSBC UK channel/brand standards; influence priorities, investment, and OKRs with insight, data, and commercial context.
- Lead senior stakeholders and decisions: Act as the pillar’s experience leader, aligning Product, Engineering, Compliance, and Operations; steer trade-offs across customer impact, risk appetite, and commercial outcomes, translating decisions into actionable plans.
- Embed customer-centric discovery at scale: Champion continuous product discovery, design thinking, journey mapping, and evidence-led decision-making across squads using robust qualitative and quantitative insight to validate, prioritise, and reduce delivery risk.
- Ensure end-to-end experience coherence: Oversee experience architecture across initiatives, manage dependencies, and maintain consistent journeys across channels, brands, and workstreams.
- Raise craft and standards (incl. design system): Set a high quality bar for craft, clarity, and creativity; ensure alignment to Creative Direction, usability best practice, Group CX Standards, Change Framework principles, and consistent use/evolution of the shared design system.
- Drive governance and team capability: Embed UK Design Review and strong delivery governance (clear Jira, documentation of risks/trade-offs, timely action closure); build and develop an inclusive, high-performing design team and chapter ways of working, partnering cross-boundary where needed.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
