I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you'll be doing...
Product Strategy & Outcomes
- Own product direction for your domain or Value Stream, aligned to TGG strategy, customer needs and commercial goals.
- Translate strategy into clear outcomes, opportunities and priorities, rather than simply features or projects.
- Build evidence-led roadmaps and make clear prioritisation and investment recommendations, balancing value, strategic fit, feasibility and confidence.
- Define meaningful success measures and use KPIs and OKRs to understand product health and drive measurable improvement.
Discovery & Product Development
- Lead continuous discovery, using research, data and operational insight to identify and deeply understand the problems and opportunities worth pursuing.
- Work as part of a Product Trio with Design and Engineering to explore opportunities, challenge assumptions and shape potential solutions.
- Use experimentation, prototyping and testing to validate assumptions and reduce uncertainty before significant investment.
- Turn validated opportunities into clear product direction, hypotheses and outcomes that enable teams to design and deliver effectively.
Delivery, Learning & Optimisation
- Lead cross-functional teams through delivery, maintaining focus on the customer and commercial outcomes we are seeking to achieve.
- Provide sufficient clarity for teams to execute effectively, translating product direction into initiatives, epics and stories where appropriate.
- Measure the impact of what we release, using evidence and learning to determine what we should do next.
- Champion continuous optimisation, recognising that releasing a feature is the start of learning, not the end of the product process.
Customer, Commercial & Data Leadership
- Connect product decisions to TGG’s key customer and commercial outcomes, including acquisition, revenue, retention, engagement and lifetime value.
- Combine customer research, behavioural data, analytics and commercial evidence to inform decisions and prioritisation.
- Build a deep understanding of member journeys, behaviours and operational context, ensuring products solve meaningful real-world problems.
- Develop compelling business cases and investment recommendations for significant product opportunities.
Stakeholder, Practice & People Leadership
- Build trusted relationships across Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Finance and Technology, creating alignment around problems, outcomes and priorities.
- Influence senior stakeholders through clear, evidence-based recommendations and confidently navigate competing priorities and trade-offs.
- Role-model strong product practice and mentor other Product Managers, helping raise product capability and judgement across TGG.
- Contribute to TGG’s Product Playbook and ways of working, championing a culture of curiosity, experimentation and evidence-led decision making.
