The IVD and Life Sciences commercial team is hiring a Senior Director, Business Development - Europe to lead profitable growth across the region. This leader will shape a unified European commercial strategy, develop a high-performing regional team, and connect customer opportunities with European and global enterprise capabilities.
The role will balance growth in strategic accounts with disciplined pursuit of target customers and new market opportunities. Success requires strong customer credibility, cross-country leadership, and close partnership with R&D, operations, quality, finance, and global segment stakeholders.
This is a player/coach role. In addition to leading the regional team, the Senior Director will personally originate, shape, advance, and close selected high-value opportunities. The leader will maintain an individual pipeline and direct accountability for new business awards while coaching the team and strengthening regional commercial capability.
Our Team
Phillips-Medisize, a Molex company, is an end-to-end provider of design, development, and manufacturing solutions to the pharmaceutical, diagnostics, medical device, and life sciences industries. Our IVD and Life Sciences segment partners with customers to bring highly engineered, regulated products from early concept through development, industrialization, launch, and lifecycle management.
What You Will Do
- Own and execute the European commercial strategy, aligning country and account priorities with the global segment strategy.
- Lead, coach, and develop a regional business development and account management team across multiple European markets.
- Act as a hands-on individual contributor for selected strategic and target accounts by originating opportunities, leading discovery, shaping solutions, building pursuit teams, and advancing opportunities through award.
- Build, maintain, and execute a personal pipeline of qualified opportunities with clear next actions, value, timing, probability, and conversion plans.
- Create a unified approach to strategic and target accounts with clear segmentation, ownership, pursuit priorities, and regional growth plays.
- Build a qualified regional pipeline and ensure disciplined progression from intelligence gathering and concept shaping through proposal, negotiation, award, transfer, and launch.
- Strengthen executive relationships with priority European and global customers across commercial, scientific, engineering, operations, and procurement functions.
- Connect customers to European development and manufacturing capabilities while orchestrating support from the broader Phillips-Medisize and Molex network.
- Provide executive oversight for RFQ and RFP responses, pricing, business cases, contracts, and commercial risk decisions.
- Partner with Marketing, R&D, Operations, Quality, and Finance to create differentiated growth plays and competitive solutions.
- Coordinate closely with North America and Asia commercial leaders on global accounts and cross-regional opportunities.

Leadership Expectations
- Build trust and alignment across countries, functions, facilities, and global teams while preserving speed and local responsiveness.
- Model player/coach behavior by combining active customer-facing business development with coaching, resource coordination, and regional leadership.
- Set clear performance expectations and use regular coaching, reviews, and development planning to improve team effectiveness.
- Encourage constructive challenge, knowledge sharing, and early escalation of commercial or execution risks.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, life sciences, or a related field.
- 12 or more years of progressive business development, strategic account management, or commercial leadership experience in IVD, diagnostics, life sciences, medical technology, or a related regulated industry.
- Five or more years of direct people leadership experience, including leading teams across countries or cultures.
- Demonstrated success growing complex accounts and winning new business in a contract design, development, and manufacturing environment.
- Experience developing commercial strategies, account plans, qualified pipelines, forecasts, proposals, and negotiation strategies.
- Experience influencing senior customer and internal stakeholders across commercial, technical, and operational functions.
- Fluent English communication skills and ability to travel throughout Europe and internationally as business needs require.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Advanced degree such as an MBA or a master’s degree in engineering or life sciences.
- Proficiency in an additional European language.
- Established relationships across European IVD, diagnostics, laboratory, bioprocessing, or life sciences companies.
- Knowledge of European regulated product development, quality systems, industrialization, and manufacturing transfer environments.
- Experience with injection moulding, microfluidics, fluid management, single-use technologies, automation, electronics, or connected devices.
- Experience with Salesforce or comparable CRM and commercial excellence platforms.
