About the Role:

The Senior Director, Compliance Lead – Global Functions plays a pivotal role in the Commercial and Healthcare Compliance (C&HC) team, acting as the strategic compliance business partner for Global Functions, including Global Commercial, Global Product Strategy, Global Value Access, Global Medical Affairs, and Research & Development (R&D). You will drive enterprise-wide initiatives by providing proactive compliance leadership, ensuring that business objectives align with ethical and compliance standards.

As a trusted advisor to senior business leaders, you will empower innovation and support commercialization by delivering practical, risk-based guidance. You will also foster a culture of integrity and ethical decision-making while collaborating closely with Legal, Privacy, HR, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and other corporate functions to integrate compliance into strategic planning and business execution.

Your Contribution:

  • Serve as the primary Compliance Business Partner for designated Global Functions, offering strategic and proactive compliance support.
  • Drive the integration of compliance into product lifecycle initiatives, scientific engagements, value access strategies, global commercial activities, and launch readiness efforts.
  • Identify and assess compliance risks related to global functional activities while developing practical mitigation strategies aligned with BioNTech’s risk appetite.
  • Translate global policies into actionable guidance for business partners and contribute to the continuous improvement of compliance frameworks.
  • Deliver targeted compliance training programs and promote a culture of integrity through effective communication and leadership coaching.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to enhance collaboration and align compliance efforts with enterprise-wide strategic goals.

A Good Match:

We are looking for an experienced leader who embodies ethical decision-making and has a proven track record in global healthcare compliance:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MSc, MBA) preferred. Extensive experience in pharmaceutical/biotech compliance at senior levels is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of international healthcare laws (e.g., FCPA, EFPIA Code) and experience supporting R&D as well as product launch initiatives from a global compliance perspective.
  • Proven ability to advise senior executives in complex global organizations and influence without authority across matrix structures.
  • Strategic thinking, ethical leadership, risk-based decision-making, collaboration skills, and organizational agility are key to success in this role.
  • Excellent stakeholder management capabilities with an ability to deliver clear guidance tailored to diverse audiences.
