About Volta

Volta is the category-defining, fully vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform – from capital to clusters to software, under a founder-led enterprise. Our mission is The Utility of Compute™: AI infrastructure as dependable and available as electricity, for every organization that needs it. Launched with a $10B strategic partnership with one of the leading frontier AI labs, a Series A led by Andreessen Horowitz, and a $5B AI Infrastructure Fund, Volta is building the infrastructure layer of the AI era from the ground up. We are 100+ people across London, Palo Alto, and New York, with rapid growth expectations to hundreds.

About The Role

Commissioning is where an AI factory becomes real. As Senior Director, Global Commissioning & Handover, you will lead commissioning of DSX facilities and network across all of Volta's sites, taking each one to ready for service and handing it over to our operations teams.

You will build and lead a global team that owns Volta's commissioning standards for electrical, mechanical and CDU scopes, systems security, commissioning planning, facilities readiness and operational readiness. Your team sets how commissioning is done on every site, from tagging through to the turn-up sequence, and holds the schedule that takes each facility live.

Time to market matters here. You will align commissioning to the turn-up sequence so that commissioning accelerates service rather than delays it, and you will make sure that when a building is handed over, the operations team, the procedures and the systems are ready to run it.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead commissioning of DSX facilities and network infrastructure across Volta's AI factories, taking each site to ready for service.
  • Build and lead the global Commissioning and Handover team, covering electrical, mechanical and CDU commissioning standards, systems security, commissioning planning, facilities readiness and operational readiness.
  • Own Volta's commissioning standards for each discipline, from tagging and method statements through each commissioning level to the turn-up sequence.
  • Own CDU installation and commissioning standards, including handover to operations.
  • Own the commissioning schedule for every site and its alignment to turn-up, so that commissioning is never the critical path to service.
  • Deliver the physical and systems security requirements for each site from construction through to handover.
  • Set the facilities readiness and operational readiness standards and governance, so each facility is ready for operations and the operations team is ready to run it.
  • Lead handover into service, working with DC Operations on acceptance, documentation and training.
  • Work with Design and Engineering, the regional delivery teams and the DSX execution and network teams so commissioning is integrated into the master schedule on every site.
  • Report commissioning progress and risk across sites, and feed lessons learned back into the standards and the reference design.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
