Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Director, Issuing & Risk Sales and Sales Engineering is a senior commercial leadership position responsible for driving the growth, market penetration, and commercial success of Visa's Issuing Solutions and Risk portfolio across the United Kingdom and Ireland region.

As a key member of the UKI Value-Added Services (VAS) Sales Leadership Team, this role combines strategic sales leadership, executive client engagement, people leadership, and business development to accelerate revenue growth and strengthen Visa's position as a trusted partner to issuers, banks, fintechs, and digital payment providers.

The successful candidate will lead teams across Issuing Sales, Risk Sales, and Sales Engineering while partnering closely with Account Executives, Product, Client Services, Strategy, Marketing, and regional leadership teams to deliver sustainable growth and maximize client value.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Leadership & Growth Strategy

  • Define and execute the UKI growth strategy for Visa's Issuing and Risk VAS business, owning regional pipeline, bookings, revenue growth, forecasting, and overall commercial performance across the portfolio.
  • Drive adoption and commercialization of Visa's Issuing and Risk solutions, including Visa Customer Authentication Service, Visa Advanced Authorization, Visa Risk Manager, Risk-Based Authentication, Identity and Fraud solutions, and Issuer-focused Value-Added Services.
  • Develop and execute territory plans, account growth strategies, and sales initiatives that accelerate market penetration, increase revenue realization, and expand Visa's leadership position across the region.

Client & Market Engagement

  • Build and strengthen executive-level relationships with issuers, banks, fintechs, processors, and key ecosystem partners, positioning Visa as a strategic advisor and trusted growth partner.
  • Partner closely with Account Executives and market leadership teams to identify strategic opportunities, influence client priorities, and drive both new business acquisition and expansion opportunities.
  • Lead complex commercial engagements and negotiations while championing Visa's value-based sales methodology, mutual success planning, and long-term client growth strategies.

Team Leadership & Sales Engineering Excellence

  • Lead, develop, and inspire high-performing teams across Issuing Sales, Risk Sales, and Sales Engineering, fostering a culture of accountability, client centricity, collaboration, and commercial excellence.
  • Oversee the Sales Engineering organization to ensure strong technical engagement, solution design, and consultative support throughout the sales lifecycle, enabling successful deal conversion and client outcomes.
  • Coach and mentor leaders and individual contributors, driving talent development, succession planning, and the creation of a robust leadership pipeline across the organization.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Business Execution

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Strategy, Client Services, Technology, Finance, Marketing, and regional leadership teams to develop integrated client solutions and drive sustainable business growth.
  • Ensure disciplined pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and operational rigor, providing clear visibility into commercial performance, market trends, competitive developments, and strategic opportunities through Microsoft Dynamics and other sales management tools.
  • Serve as a key member of the UKI VAS Sales Leadership Team, contributing to regional strategy, organizational effectiveness, people leadership, and the successful execution of Visa's broader growth agenda.

Success Measures

  • Achievement of bookings, revenue, pipeline, and market growth objectives across the Issuing and Risk portfolio.
  • Expansion of executive relationships and strategic partnerships with key issuers, banks, fintechs, and ecosystem participants.
  • Successful leadership and development of high-performing Issuing Sales, Risk Sales, and Sales Engineering teams.
  • Increased adoption of Visa's Issuing, Authentication, Identity, and Risk solutions across UKI.
  • Contribution to the overall success of the UKI Value-Added Services growth strategy and commercial objectives.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a commercially driven and strategic sales leader with deep expertise in payments, issuing, fraud, and risk solutions. They will have a proven record of delivering revenue growth, leading high-performing sales and sales engineering teams, building executive client relationships, and driving complex cross-functional initiatives within a dynamic technology or financial services environment.

  • Proven sales leadership with a track record of delivering revenue growth, market expansion, pipeline development, and business performance.
  • Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing sales, business development, and sales engineering teams.
  • Deep expertise in payments, issuing, risk, fraud, and authentication solutions, with a strong understanding of the evolving payments ecosystem.
  • Strong executive relationship management skills, with experience influencing senior stakeholders and leading complex strategic negotiations.
  • Exceptional strategic and cross-functional leadership capabilities, with the ability to drive collaboration across a variety of teams.
