Purpose Brands: Senior Director of International Franchise Development

Purpose Brands, the parent company of Orangetheory, Anytime Fitness, Waxing the City and The Bar Method, is seeking a Senior Director of International Franchise Development to join its team. About the Role

As the Senior Director of International Franchise Development, you will be responsible for spearheading the strategic growth and expansion of our Purpose Brands franchise network in international markets. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future international growth strategy of the world's largest fitness franchisor, with exposure to executive leadership and the ability to influence the growth of multiple global brands.

You will play a pivotal role in identifying, evaluating, and securing new franchise opportunities while cultivating relationships with potential franchise partners. In this role you will also work closely with the leaders of the International Purpose Brands Business Teams in the region to support further growth of existing franchise partners and secure solid growth across the brand(s). For one brand, this will mean rebuilding the sales approach: designing the playbook, driving pipeline generation, and instilling the processes required to scale. For another, it will mean sustaining and accelerating momentum in a well-established, scaled system while translating that growth model into new geographies and formats. This role will partner closely with Brand Presidents to shape brand-specific development strategies that align with Purpose Brands’ broader expansion goals. They will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment across functions and apply a highly ROI-driven lens to decision making, balancing the urgency of rapid scaling with the discipline of selecting the right franchise partners and ensuring each investment generates long-term value.

Purpose/Impact: (Duties & Essential Functions)

  • Develop a comprehensive multi-year strategy defining the roadmap for execution, detailing the necessary preparations and actions required to achieve sales objectives effectively.
  • Establish a clear framework for the international sales process, outlining every step from lead generation to the grand openings.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive strategies to identify and evaluate potential franchise opportunities in key international markets.
  • Lead market research and analysis to identify target demographics, competitive landscapes, and market trends to inform franchise development initiatives and spearhead them for the respective brand.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with prospective franchise partners, developers, and industry stakeholders to promote brand awareness and facilitate partnership opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including legal, finance, operations, and marketing to develop franchise models, agreements, and support systems or products tailored to international markets and their success.
  • Lead the negotiation and execution of franchise agreements, ensuring alignment with company objectives and franchisee expectations as set in the International Purpose Brands growth strategy.
  • Keep current on industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in franchise development to inform business strategies and initiatives.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations to senior leadership on franchise development activities, performance metrics, and growth opportunities.
  • Share the best practices of Purpose Brands domestic departments and Franchise Development Team to Master franchisees across the Purpose Brands International Units.

Background

  • Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in franchise development, real estate development, business development, with a proven track record of success in international markets.
  • Extensive experience in international franchise development, including market analysis, lead generation, franchise sales, negotiation, and contract management.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling franchise operations in diverse international markets.
  • Franchise industry experience with multi-brands strongly preferred (International Centered).
  • Strong cultural awareness and sensitivity are critical for navigating diverse international markets.
  • Experience working with teams and clients from different cultural backgrounds is highly valuable.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
  • Experience within the health/wellness/fitness industry preferred.

Additional Details

  • This position requires a minimum of 8–10 weeks of international travel (including solo) in the calendar year to Purpose Brands’ existing and new development markets. Additionally, some of this travel will be over weekends and/or holidays.
  • This position will also require work outside of normal business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including events and hosting of clients during the evenings.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid passport and obtain required visas for travel to existing and new markets.

Location

  • Candidates must be based in Europe, with a preference for Spain or the United Kingdom.

Salary Range

  • Spain: €153,000–€162,000 EUR Base
  • United Kingdom: £131,000–£138,000 GBP Base
  • Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including geographic location, relevant experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity.

Purpose Brands LLC, currently observe the following hybrid work model for employees at our Boca Raton (FL), Woodbury (MN), and Seattle (WA) offices:
