An opportunity to play your part

At Centrica, technology is helping shape the future of energy, and as a Senior Domain Architect you'll play a pivotal role in making that happen. Acting as a trusted technology advisor, you'll bring together business strategy and technology delivery to create a clear architectural vision that drives meaningful outcomes. You'll lead the development of long-term technology roadmaps, influence strategic decisions, and ensure our platforms, products and services evolve in line with business priorities.

Working closely with leaders across Product, Engineering, Commercial and Operations, you'll help identify future capabilities, navigate complex technology challenges, and provide architectural leadership across a diverse and evolving landscape. You'll balance innovation with pragmatism, ensuring technology investments are scalable, resilient and ready for the future.

Location: UK-based hybrid role, Occasional travel to site.

Day to day –

  • Act as a trusted technology leader and strategic advisor, building strong relationships across business and technology teams to ensure architectural decisions support both current priorities and future growth.
  • Define and communicate a clear architectural vision that connects business strategy with technology delivery, shaping the direction of key investments, programmes and transformation initiatives.
  • Create and evolve technology roadmaps that balance business goals, customer needs and technical innovation, turning long-term strategy into practical plans that drive successful outcomes.
  • Lead architecture reviews, design decisions and option assessments, confidently navigating trade-offs between cost, complexity, risk, customer impact and long-term sustainability.
  • Champion innovation by exploring emerging technologies, automation and AI-enabled tools that improve efficiency, accelerate delivery and enhance the quality of architectural outcomes.
  • Ensure technology solutions are secure, compliant, scalable and aligned with enterprise standards, providing guidance and governance that enables teams to move quickly with confidence.
  • Coach, mentor and inspire architects, engineers and technology teams, promoting best practices, reusable patterns and a culture of continuous learning that strengthens architectural capability across Centrica.

What are the must haves –

  • Proven ability to shape technology direction within complex enterprise environments, ensuring architectural decisions support business strategy, customer outcomes and long-term growth.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and communicate effectively with both technical teams and senior business leaders.
  • Experience defining and delivering architecture roadmaps that translate business priorities into clear, actionable technology plans across multiple products, platforms and teams.
  • Strong understanding of architecture governance, security principles and risk management, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, compliant and aligned to enterprise standards.
  • A passion for innovation and emerging technologies, with experience applying automation and AI responsibly to improve efficiency, accelerate delivery and enhance business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to simplify complex concepts for a variety of audiences while mentoring colleagues and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and architectural excellence.
