Senior Domain Architect (SMETS1) / Hybrid: Manchester or London
Closing date: 25th September at 12:30
Own the technology strategy and architecture roadmap for a mature, business-critical smart metering service. You will shape the long-term sustainability of the SMETS1 estate, balancing resilience, security, risk, cost, and business value while influencing suppliers and senior stakeholders.

How you will contribute to transforming the smart energy network and shaping the future
- Own and govern the SMETS1 technology strategy, architecture, and roadmap, ensuring decisions support service sustainability, regulatory obligations, and future transition and retirement planning.
- Lead architecture assurance across applications, infrastructure, cloud services, and device technologies, ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and best practice.
- Manage architectural risk across the SMETS1 estate, including technical debt, obsolescence, resilience, security, and cross-supplier dependencies, driving proportionate mitigation strategies.
- Review, challenge, and influence supplier architecture, roadmaps, and technical solutions to improve outcomes, value for money, and alignment with DCC strategy.
- Act as a trusted technical authority for internal and external stakeholders, translating complex technical choices into clear recommendations based on business value, risk, and operational impact.
What you need to bring
- Strong enterprise or domain architecture experience in complex, large-scale technology environments, with ownership of technology roadmaps and architecture governance.
- End-to-end systems thinking, including experience designing and assuring solutions across cloud, infrastructure, applications, and system integrations.
- Experience managing technology lifecycle challenges such as legacy platforms, technical debt, obsolescence, resilience, migration, or transition planning.
- Commercially aware stakeholder and supplier management skills, with the credibility to challenge, influence, and communicate technical decisions to senior and non-technical audiences.
- Experience of smart metering, SMETS1, or another large-scale regulated operational service is highly desirable and will enable you to make an impact quickly.
