Job Title: Senior.Net Developer in Betting and Gambling Firm
Job Type: Perm
Location: 2 Days in a Week in Manchester M2 4JG
A major digital consumer-facing platform in Manchester is hiring a Senior.NET Developer to help improve and evolve a live, business-critical technology estate.
This is not babysitting a legacy estate with no roadmap. The platform is live, commercially important and actively being improved, with a real focus on performance, reliability, scalability and technical quality.
You’ll be working across C#/.NET, Web API, WCF, SQL/NoSQL, caching, messaging, Windows Services and performance optimisation, with a healthy mix of new feature development and improvement work across existing systems.
The role suits someone who enjoys proper backend/platform engineering. Someone who can take ownership of work from development through to production, improve what already exists, and work closely with Lead Developers to raise the quality of how software is built and supported.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The honest sell
This is not shiny greenfield fantasy land, and that is exactly why it is interesting.
It is a stable, high-volume platform where the work is about improving systems that already matter commercially. If someone likes .NET, APIs, performance, legacy improvement and production ownership, this is a strong move.
“It took my CV and asked me questions relevant to understanding what kind of jobs to suggest for me. Suggestions were almost perfect. Jobs were exactly what I’ve been looking for.”
