The Mission
The Engineering team’s mission is bold and clear: To build a technology ecosystem that serves as a "poster-child" for how enterprise businesses leverage the Shopify ecosystem to achieve exceptional results with agility, speed, and efficiency.
The Role
You are a specialist. While others work on backend integration, you live, breathe, and own the Shopify ecosystem. You will work within the Engineering team to build a modular, high-performance storefront theme.
Your code is what our members interact with every day—you create the best-practice version for others to work with. You will work closely with UX/UI designers to translate high-fidelity designs into pixel-perfect reality, and with Product Managers to ensure those designs are built as reusable components that empower our commercial teams to move fast.
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience specifically developing on Shopify Plus. You know the Admin API, Storefront API, and Liquid inside out.
- Proficiency in modern CSS and lightweight JavaScript frameworks.
- Comfortable using:
- The command-line tool provided by Shopify for managing and developing themes/apps
- GitHub for version control
- CI/CD systems for safely releasing updates to the storefront design
- A passion for pixel-perfect implementation of designs and "micro-interactions" that delight users.
- An understanding that your code’s ultimate goal is to help customers and members buy amazing Skincare, Makeup, and Bodycare products.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Core Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain our custom Shopify Plus theme. Write clean Liquid code that maximises the platform’s native capabilities.
- Architect a library of "Sections" and "Blocks" that allow our eCommerce team to build landing pages dynamically without engineering support.
- Own the Core Web Vitals of the site. Relentlessly optimise CSS, JavaScript, and asset loading to ensure we are among the fastest beauty sites on the web.
- Implement "progressive enhancement" techniques to ensure the site feels instantaneous.
- Utilise Shopify Functions and Checkout UI Extensions to customise the purchase flow (e.g., membership validation) in a scalable, upgrade-safe way, while prioritising native or third-party capabilities where they make the most sense.
- Work with Full-Stack Engineers to consume custom APIs when native Shopify data isn’t sufficient, ensuring seamless and secure integration.
- Champion accessibility (WCAG) standards in every line of code.
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring we build a sustainable, high-quality codebase that the team can be proud of.
- Set best-practice standards for the team, mentor colleagues, and pave the way for future projects.
