SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, working with clients to help make sustainability happen, within a collaborative, people-first culture.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Ecologist to join our established Ecology team, delivering high-profile renewable energy, infrastructure, and residential development projects.

Based in Stoke on Trent, the role will focus primarily on ecological consultancy and project delivery, with additional exposure to business development and client management (depending on experience), as well as wider work spanning renewables, infrastructure, power, industrial and built environment sectors.

The Role

You’ll lead and support the delivery of ecology projects from early planning through to completion, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. The role includes:

  • Project and technical leadership, including management of ecological projects (commensurate with experience)
  • Client management, stakeholder engagement, and support with fee proposals
  • Mentoring and coaching junior ecologists
  • Production and review of technical deliverables including Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitats Regulations Assessments, licence applications and related documents
  • Undertaking and overseeing ecological surveys to required standards
  • Desk-based work alongside site visits across the UK and Ireland

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
