Senior Ecologist: Newcastle
An established and progressive environmental consultancy is seeking an Ecologist to join its expanding team in the North East. This role offers the chance to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting developments from initial planning stages through to implementation and ongoing environmental management.
The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering ecological expertise across a variety of sectors. Project work spans residential and mixed-use developments, major infrastructure, renewable energy schemes, green infrastructure, and large-scale habitat and nature recovery initiatives.

Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Undertaking Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIAs)
- Delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEAs)
- Supporting Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments and strategies
- Carrying out protected species surveys (such as bats, great crested newts, birds, and reptiles)
- Conducting habitat surveys and condition assessments
- Assisting in the preparation of mitigation, enhancement, and long-term management plans

The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- A degree in Ecology or a related discipline
- Practical field survey experience and knowledge of UK wildlife legislation
- Strong report writing skills with attention to detail
- A full UK driving licence
- A proactive, organised approach and a genuine enthusiasm for ecology
