About The Opportunity
The successful candidate will work alongside other ecologists, environmentalists & geoscientists to deliver ecological based appraisals as standalone deliverables or integration into wider site development and planning support work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to environmental impact assessments and development consent order projects.
- Lead on site visits, ecological surveys, marine ecology, and meet client project managers.
- Lead in the production of screening and scoping reports to support planning applications.
- Develop a reputation within the sector by developing innovative methods of impact assessment for terrestrial, marine, coastal, and ecological impacts.
- Develop best available techniques for environmental assessments that consider climate resilience, emissions, noise, biodiversity, water discharges, and heritage.
Essential Criteria
- Experience in leading or significantly contributing to the preparation of ecological surveys, HRA, and environmental impact assessments for new developments and operational permitting applications.
- Qualification background in ecology, zoology, botany, marine sciences, or equivalent.
- Chartered ecologist, environmentalist, or scientist.
- We are also willing to consider ecologists who are recent postgraduates.
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of any one of these: air quality management, noise abatement policy and legislation, or dispersion modelling methodologies for terrestrial and/or marine environments.
- Licensed bat ecologist with experience of leading bat surveys, including preliminary roost assessments and dusk/dawn surveys, in-line with current UK best practice and legislation.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle challenges.
- Willingness to travel on business as required, including visits to overseas sites.
