Job Purpose
As the Senior eCommerce Data Analyst, you will be the lead authority for eCommerce growth across The Independent’s portfolio by delivering strategic, accurate, and high-impact data analysis. You will own the analytical roadmap, replacing both technical and managerial functions to track performance, build advanced dashboards, and support high-level business decisions that improve revenue and engagement across all eCommerce verticals.
The Data & Marketing Department
The Data & Marketing department is the intelligence powerhouse of the business, representing the customer. Our goal is to inspire, engage and grow a loyal readership by harnessing data-driven insights and innovative marketing to deliver personalised, impactful content experiences that build lasting trust, diverse revenue streams, and a thriving future for quality journalism. The department consists of four teams: Data Science & Engineering, Data Intelligence & Monetisation, Research & Insight and Customer Marketing.
Data Intelligence & Monetisation
The purpose of this team is to understand our customers and the value they bring to our business. They do this by providing performance insight and optimisation opportunities to our core business (editorial, marketing, advertising, ecommerce activities, etc.), identifying and validating business expansion opportunities based on insight, and identifying and delivering initiatives that generate revenue from our data assets.
Digital Analytics
The purpose of the Digital Analytics team is to maximise the reach and performance of Independent Media's digital ecosystem across multiple brands by providing a technical and behavioural understanding of how audiences discover and consume content. The team is responsible for the integrity of the tracking infrastructure, the optimisation of platform health, and the delivery of real-time editorial and advertising insights. By bridging the gap between product performance and content engagement, the team ensures the digital estate provides a seamless, high-velocity environment that feeds the Anonymous-to-Known (A2K) funnel and maximises total monetisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
