Senior Ecommerce & Growth Manager
Butter & Crust is a fast-growing weekend breakfast subscription business. We deliver fresh sourdough, pastries and breakfast extras to customers’ doorsteps before 9am every weekend.
We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Ecommerce & Growth manager to own and improve the way customers discover, buy and subscribe to Butter & Crust. 📈🥐
This is a broad, practical ecommerce role covering our website, CRM, subscriptions, paid acquisition, CRO, analytics and the technical systems that connect everything together.
You’ll work closely with the founder, our paid creative team and external specialists, but we’re looking for someone who can personally get a lot done.
That might mean:
- Building a campaign in Klaviyo
- Setting up a new subscription product in Shopify and Recharge
- Launching an A/B test
- Reviewing Meta performance
- Editing a landing page
- Using Codex or Claude Code to fix something directly
This is not a role where you simply brief agencies and wait for things to happen.
We’re looking for a commercially minded ecommerce operator who can spot an opportunity, work out what needs to change, and help get it live.
You’ll own ecommerce and growth across:
Website, Shopify and merchandising
- Owning day-to-day performance and development of the Butter & Crust website
- Creating and managing products, variants, collections, pricing, images, metafields and selling plans in Shopify
- Making sure new products are correctly configured across Shopify, Recharge, bundles and subscription frequencies
- Improving product pages, landing pages, navigation, FAQs and the overall customer journey
- Building and editing pages using tools such as Replo or Shopify theme sections
- Testing and managing offers, discount codes, free gifts, delivery thresholds and promotional mechanics
- Working with operations to ensure product availability and online merchandising reflect what we can fulfil
- QAing the complete journey across mobile and desktop, from the landing page through bundle building, cart and checkout
CRM, campaigns and subscription growth
- Planning and managing the Klaviyo campaign calendar
- Writing and building both plain-text and designed emails
- Creating product launches, weekend reminders, upsell campaigns, offers and reactivation campaigns
- Building and improving automated flows across welcome, abandonment, post-purchase, churn prevention and win-back
- Developing useful customer segments based on lifecycle stage, purchase behaviour, subscription status and delivery cadence
- Using HTML and Klaviyo templating to build more personalised campaigns
- Creating and QAing Recharge quick-action links for subscription products, one-time add-ons and discounts
- Improving subscription upsells, cancellation journeys, save offers and customer retention
- Making sure customers receive the right campaign and do not receive conflicting messages or duplicate versions

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

CRO and experimentation
- Owning the CRO roadmap across the homepage, landing pages, bundle builder, cart and checkout journey
- Finding areas of friction through data, customer feedback and direct experience of the site
- Turning observations into clear testable hypotheses
- Setting up and running A/B tests using Intelligems or similar tools
- Testing areas such as offers, landing-page structures, subscription messaging, product cards, bundles, rewards and CTAs
- Protecting the integrity of tests and avoiding overlapping changes that make results difficult to understand
- Evaluating performance using conversion rate, AOV, subscription take-up, CAC, revenue per visitor and customer quality
- Rolling successful tests into the live experience and documenting what was learned
Paid acquisition
- Understanding and actively contributing to our Meta advertising strategy
- Being comfortable working inside Meta Business Manager and Ads Manager
- Creating and managing campaigns, ad sets, budgets, audiences and ads when needed
- Monitoring CAC, CPA, CTR, CPM, conversion rate, spend and creative fatigue
- Understanding whether a problem sits with the creative, offer, audience, website or checkout journey
- Working with our creative person to turn performance data into clear creative briefs
- Developing ad angles based on customer motivations, objections, reviews, offers and reasons to buy
- Working with external agencies while being able to challenge recommendations and understand what is happening in the account
- Making sure the promise made in an ad matches the experience customers see after they click
Technical ecommerce and development
- Using Codex, Claude Code or similar tools to build and improve ecommerce features
- Working confidently with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Shopify Liquid and structured data
- Making front-end changes to themes, landing pages, product cards and bundle experiences
- Understanding enough back-end logic to work safely across Shopify, Recharge, Klaviyo and APIs
- Reviewing AI-generated code properly rather than deploying it blindly
- Working through staging themes, version control and sensible QA processes
- Troubleshooting technical issues across different devices, browsers, products and customer profiles
- Knowing when to solve something directly and when specialist developer support is needed
What this role looks like in practice
One day you might:
- Build and send a campaign in Klaviyo
- Add a new recurring product to Shopify and Recharge
- Review Meta performance and brief five new ad angles
- Launch a homepage A/B test
- Fix a broken product configuration in the bundle builder
- Use Claude Code to update a Shopify section
- Build a Make.com automation to pass cleaner customer data into Klaviyo
- Review whether an offer is helping conversion enough to justify the margin cost
