Our Senior Editors play a key role in ensuring the quality, accuracy and consistency of scientific and medical communications deliverables across a range of client accounts. They work closely with scientific and client services teams, providing expert editorial review, supporting project delivery and acting as a trusted source of editorial guidance. They contribute to the development of editorial processes and support the growth of less experienced editors through coaching, feedback and mentoring. In this role, they have an opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects while helping to maintain the high standards our clients expect from Prime.

Main Responsibilities

  • Editing and proofreading a wide range of medical communications materials, ensuring accuracy, clarity and consistency. This includes but is not limited to manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, digital materials and PDFs
  • Reviewing content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style and formatting
  • Developing and maintaining editorial style guides (client, journal, in-house requirements) and ensuring deliverables comply
  • Applying tracked changes (electronically) and editorial feedback clearly and effectively
  • Performing quality control reviews and providing constructive feedback as necessary
  • Acting as a senior point of contact for complex editorial queries and style decisions
  • Collaborating with scientific and client services teams to support efficient project delivery
  • Helping coordinate editorial workload and resource planning across projects
  • Supporting the development of editorial best practices, processes and quality standards
  • Mentoring and coaching junior editors, contributing to their ongoing development

Requirements

  • 3-year editing experience in medical communications
  • Life sciences degree required
  • Previous editing experience, ideally within medical communications, healthcare or scientific publishing
  • Exceptional written English, grammar and attention to detail
  • Strong copy-editing, proofreading and quality control skills
  • Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience providing feedback, mentoring or supporting the development of colleagues
  • Confidence working across multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Advanced proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Endnote and SharePoint
  • Experience using tracked changes, digital markup tools and style guides
  • A collaborative approach and passion for delivering high-quality work
